'Spirit of the Plains' explores the connection between human identity and the natural world, especially the symbolism of animals in indigenous cultures. Living about an hour away from a Bison sanctuary, I have had the priviledge to view these magnificent animals up close. Their sheer presence and calm strength inspired me to create this piece.
The bison, to me, embodies resilience and unity with the land. In this piece, I aimed to merge those qualities with the quiet inner power of the human spirit. The woman's gaze and form compliment the bison's dignity and strength.
In this piece I wanted to highlight the shared strength, quiet presence and endurance of both humanity and the bison. It's a tribute to ancestry, wilderness, and the deep-rooted thread that connects all life to the land.
